X languages – one tongue
What kind of language is Slovene anyway? Where is it used? What can I get out of it? 1st: maybe a neighbour or a colleague at work speaks Slovene. And so "dober dan" is part of the regional identity of all Carinthians, albeit an "exotic" part for some. Get to know it! 2nd: Slovenia isn't just a holiday destination or an excuse to go shopping. It will also prove to be a very attractive labour market in the future – particularly for those who speak two languages! 3rd: Slovene is a Slavonic language and if you can speak it, the whole of South-East Europe – with approx. 270 million inhabitants in all – is your playground. But don't worry, you don't have to be perfect! |
